Uses
Red dye belonging to the xanthene group. Back in the 1920-30s it was used in high concentrations in lipsticks. Nowadays it is also used as coloring agent in nail polish, wool silk, and paper. It is now approved by the FDA for use in inks, drugs and cosmetics except for eye cosmetics, and as topical low concentrated antiseptics. C.I. 45380:2
